Does Coca-Cola Have a Problem With Christianity?

This seems a little suspicious to say the least and this is not the first video I have seen that demonstrates this. I find it difficult to believe that this is some kind of glitch or coding error. It looks more to me like a system that is very intentionally designed to reject Christian messages and I have to wonder why.

As an agnostic, I really don’t have a dog in this fight but since I was raised in a Christian household, I am quite familiar with the foundational principals of Christianity. You know, things like don’t kill, don’t lie, don’t cheat, be charitable and love your neighbor. I don’t think you can argue that those are not positive values unless you are a rotten person or you worship Satan or something.

While little is known about the religious beliefs of John Stith Pemberton, the man credited with inventing Coca-Cola, it seems unlikely that he would be a Satanist or even a Communist. But I want to emphasize that there seems to be no way to know for sure.

Approaching this from a more pragmatic angle, would it make good business sense to potentially alienate millions of customers? Christianity is far from dead in the United States of America and if anything, this casual observer believes the opposite is true and that more people are embracing it these days.

Personally, I don’t drink Coca-Cola or any other soda-type beverage like that since it is an absolute disaster for your health. I will have a “craft” soda a few times a year that is not loaded with corn syrup and other garbage but I don’t allow any “mainstream” soda product to cross my lips.

So, what’s the deal Coca-Cola? Do you hate Christians and Christianity? Who is behind this effort to prevent people from customizing their containers of Coca-Cola with messages related to Christianity? And why is it OK to create messages related to other religions?

I would say that it will be interesting to see how the Coca-Cola Company reacts to this once it reaches a point where they are no longer able to ignore it but I am confident it will be a repeat of the same old story. They will apologize and claim that the cause of the problem was a software glitch or some other oversight but I do not believe that for even a second. Perhaps it is just one employee that inserted the anti-Christian code on the sly. Still, that would not erase suspicion about it being more a company policy than a rogue employee.
